ABOUT

Dorset Pathways was founded in 2023. The concept was originally formed in 2020 by Rob and Maz who, between them, have worked with many children and young people in Dorset. From working as a KS4 Learning Director in secondary schools, teaching Maths and Motor Vehicle Studies at GCSE level, teaching at a local college delivering Motor Vehicle Apprenticeships and with over 15 year’s experience in the motor trade, we had a great foundation to deliver vocational qualifications, and support children and young people’s development with English and Maths. With this wealth of experience between them, Dorset Pathways was formed, and it has been growing from strength to strength.

We secured a place on Dorset County Council’s Alternative Education Framework and Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council’s Approved Provider list early on, which has allowed us to positively impact the lives of many children and young people. (please see the testimonials for more details)

We provide a therapeutic setting for children and young people to learn whilst developing into young adults. We offer care and support for children and young people with complex & persistent SEMH and/or SEND needs, find the path that best suits them, to give them aspirations and direction for their future. We provide a range of supportive and engaging learning and development opportunities for children and young people. We offer vocational pathways specialising in Motor Mechanics and operate out of a workshop in Poole, Dorset. The children and young people will have the opportunity to work towards a Level 2 vocational qualification. In addition, we provide support with English and Math up to Functional Skills Level 2. We promote good citizenship and offer a peaceful, relaxed environment for children and young people to engage and flourish.

At Dorset Pathways we purposefully keep our sessions very small to reduce anxiety and give our children and young people the attention they need. This in turn means we are only able to offer a certain amount of children and young people a place, at any one time. We are working hard to find ways to increase our capacity, without impacting the structure that is already in place. We also hope to be able to offer more specialist vocational pathways in the future and support our young people into employment as a bridge between their education and their career.
